Pokhara University was established in 1997 under Pokhara University Act 2054 of Kingdom of Nepal. I'm proud to be appointed the very first staff and also the first Vice-Chancellor of Pokhara University, Pokhara, Nepal. It was a great challenge to establish University in Nepal especially outside of the capital Kathmandu, since the system and policy making institutions are concentrated within the boundary of Kathmandu valley. And Pokhara University has to be started from zero with the limited resources supported by the government.

Although through struggle, within the period of 7 years' it took the shape of full University. Currently there are three faculties, namely: Faculty of Science and Technology, Faculty of Management Studies and Faculty of Humanities and Social Science. As for more Pokhara University is standing with 3 constituent and 23 affiliated academic institutions. There are about 5000 students studying under Pokhara University in its 37 programs of Bachelor, Master and M.Phil. levels. About 2000 students already graduated from Pokhara University are contributing their skills for the nation development. Some of them are perusing further degree in other national and international Universities.

Pokhara University adopted semester systems and 4 years of Batchelor's degree program. The priority of education was given to the research and technical knowledge, therefore, it is established as one of the leading higher learning institutions in Nepal. I'm grateful to all academicians' my colleague from Tribhuvan University and other Universities without their valuable contribution, Pokhara University would not be successful as it is standing to day.
